1. Cut out Simple Carbs and Sugar : Our aim should be to cut out the Foods which have a High Glycemic Index. Some examples of such Food Items are – Pasta, White Bread, White Rice, Potato and Corn Flakes. These Carbohydrates are converted in to Sugar inside the Body. This makes the system secrete more Insulin and there is a danger of US becoming Insulin Resistant. Sugar levels go up as a result and our Arteries Suffer + the risk of Amputation, Stroke and certain Cancers goes up.
Eat Foods which have a Low Glycemic Index like – Beans, Whole Grains, Vegetables and Fruits like Peaches and Strawberries! One of Sherri’s Favorite meals is Pasta with Grilled-Chicken and Leafy Greens!
2. Follow the Plate Method : 50% of the Plate should consist of Low Glycemic Index Foods like – Onion, Grilled Pepper, Green Salads and Slaws. 25% – Whole Grains, Beans, Brown Rice, Hummus and Starchy Vegetables. Remaining 25% – Lean Protein like Grilled Salmon, Spicy Tofu and Chicken Breast.
